According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China exported 630,000 tons of aluminum in May, representing a 6% hike compared to the previous month and a 16% increase from the same month last year. This surge in outbound shipments helped satisfy global supply deficits brought on by the war in the Middle East.
Besides, China’s total aluminum exports in the first five months came to about 2.7 million mt, a year-on-year rise of 10.5%.
As the dominant international producer of the metal, China saw its domestic smelters maximize production rates to capture an expanded share of the global market. These operations accelerated output in response to rising international prices and supply suspensions in key manufacturing areas impacted by the ongoing conflict.
