Novelis partnered with Danieli Centro Recycling to upgrade the aluminum shredder line at its Nachterstedt facility, operational since 2014.
Designed as a three-line system for UBC, flex, and heavy scrap, the plant adapted to changing scrap availability and quality by enhancing its capability to process contaminated materials.
The upgrade focused on improving organic contaminant removal to increase recycled content in finished products through modifications to both shredder and downstream systems. To minimize operational disruption, equipment was pre-assembled offline, significantly shortening the plant shutdown duration during installation.
