Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced plans to launch new mining enterprises by 2031, aiming to double Azerbaijan's annual aluminum production from 50,000 tons to 100,000 tons.
The strategy forms part of the 2027 to 2030 state program for the mining and metals industry, which seeks to establish a complete production chain extending to finished goods. Upcoming initiatives feature new facilities for iron ore beneficiation, pellet production, and iron briquettes.
Aliyev said that the program requires preferential shipping rates to maintain economic efficiency in raw material transport, coupled with strict adherence to environmental standards and comprehensive ecological assessments.
