Chinese-owned Alu Hi-Tech Industries Ltd. is developing Bangladesh’s first aluminium beverage can plant, a US$100 million facility at Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park in Gazipur designed to produce about 1 billion cans annually, with roughly 90% earmarked for export.
Construction has reached basement completion, and the company aims to finish building work within eight months, targeting production in the second half of 2027.
The project’s timeline depends partly on securing a reliable gas connection, and Alu Hi-Tech has asked the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority for assistance while the authority contacts relevant ministries.
Machinery and raw materials will be sourced from China, and with Bangladesh’s domestic market relatively small, exports are expected to account for most output.
