Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO) is going to sell its quota of 135,000 tons of annual aluminum smelting capacity to Yunnan Aluminium, a state-run Chinalco subsidiary, in exchange CNY 539 million biddings in an auction.
According to Yunnan Aluminium, winning this quota will help them accelerate the implementation of their company’s integrated hydropower and aluminum development strategy to further improve their competitiveness.
This quota was released after Chalco shut down its Shandong Huayu smelting facility early last year due to high costs.
