Vedanta Aluminium, India's largest aluminum producer, and GAIL Gas Limited, a subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited, have signed a gas sales agreement for the supply of natural gas to Vedanta's Jharsuguda smelter.
The project will be operational by 2025, significantly reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to Vedanta's Net Zero emissions by 2025.
The partnership will support Vedanta's upcoming 430,000 tons per annum (KTPA) foundry, which casts molten metal into aluminum products.
The new cast house will be natural gas based and is expected to reduce monthly carbon emissions by 62% and 47,292 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.
