The US Department of Commerce (USDOC) stated on December 23 that it has officially launched the Aluminum Import Monitoring and Analysis (AIM) system, which will let the USDOC collect and publish data on aluminum imports.
Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said that the new system will help to detect potential transshipment and circumvention of aluminum products, as well as to ensure a level-playing field for domestic producers.
Local companies’ reports of the most recent processing region of the products, the smelting region of main raw materials, and that of secondary raw materials will be required by this new monitoring system while applying for licenses.
