It was reported that the US Aluminum Association demanded Trump Government for quota-free tariff exemptions on aluminum products for Canada and Mexico.
Association President and CEO Heidi Brock urged government to the US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, to improve the security questions especially with Canada and Mexico lifted from the Commerce Department's Section 232 report.
Furthermore, he also suggested US President Trump to provide a total exception on aluminum products from Mexico and Canada without quotas. These worries should be settled by an excellent negotiation for a modernized North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
The association said the US would bring more increasing demand yearly if to integrate North American supply chains. It would expect to solve the Chinese surplus problem via government-to-government agreement, and bring greater result in the US aluminum sector.
