Suriname’s government announced the launch of a process for attracting potential investors to develop bauxite projects in the Bakhuis region in the west of the country, which will create socioeconomic opportunities in the region.
According to the statement of the government, the development of bauxite projects in Suriname has been tried many times since the 1970s but all in vain. However, the demand for aluminum continues to increase with the growth of the world population and environmental protection efforts.
Suriname’s government is now putting its effort into improving transportation in the region, creating job training and education opportunities, and enhancing maritime transportation.
