South32, a mining and metals company headquartered in Australia, intended to purchase a 25% interest in Mozal Aluminium from Mitsubishi's MCA Metals for US$250 million.
After the completion of the acquisition, South32’s shareholding in Mozal Aluminium will reach 72.1%, and the annualized equity share of aluminum production will also be raised by 15% to 1,138,000 tons.
Mozal Aluminium smelter is a major customer of South32’s Worsley alumina refinery. This transaction will further integrate the relationship into their supply chain.
