It was reported that Société Minière de Boké (SMB) signed an agreement with the Guinean government to invest US$3 billion to build a 135-kilometer railway which connected the mining area with the refined aluminum plant, an alumina plant with an annual capacity of 1 million tons, and a new bauxite mine.

The new bauxite mine was expected to be put into production in 2022, and the production was estimated at 10 million tons in the first year and 30 million tons in 2024.

With the production from bauxite mine, Guinean exports to China will continue to grow.
