Scandium Canada, a technology metals company based in Canada, had submitted a provisional patent application titled "Aluminum alloy powders for additive manufacturing. Methods of producing the same and uses thereof" to the US Patent and Trademark Office.

In collaboration with McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, Scandium Canada developed two aluminum-scandium (Al-Sc) alloys and their powders, specifically for additive manufacturing (3D printing) applications, which has resulted in the development of a large amount of intellectual property over the past three years.

Scandium Canada said the development would bring new possibilities for various industries, such as aerospace, automotive, and maritime industries.
