The Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, said that in response to US sanctions, Russian aluminum consumption will increase by 300,000 tons in 2018.

In 2017, the domestic aluminum consumption in Russia was approximately 1 million tons, and it will increase by 300,000 tons this year. Manturov said that the country’s total aluminum consumption might increase to 2.5 million tons in five years.

At the same time, Russia announced an increase in the tariff rate on road construction machinery, oil and gas equipment and fiber products imported from the US from 25% to 40%. Consumers could buy expensive imported machines or choose to buy a cheaper Russian machine.
