According to data from the London Metal Exchange (LME), the ratio of Russia-origin available aluminum stocks in LME-registered warehouses rose to 90.4% in December from 78.8% in November.
The LME said that it is actively monitoring the market order of Russian metal in light of recent UK government sanctions. Russia’s metal continued to flow through the warehousing network in December, added the LME.
Some producers competing with Russia's Rusal and some Western consumers who have been avoiding buying the Russian metal since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 have been concerned about the Russian metal's high share in the LME inventories.
