RUSAL, a global leading aluminum supplier in Russia, announced to open its first phase of Taishet Aluminium Smelter (TaAZ) in Siberia. This smelter was said to be the most advanced low-carbon aluminum production plant in the world.
TaAZ is RUSAL’s third low-carbon aluminum smelter, with a total investment of more than US$1.69 billion, providing more than 1,000 local jobs.
After the first phase of TaAZ is fully put into operation, the production of low-carbon aluminum was expected to be 428,500 tons per year.
TaAZ’s low-carbon aluminum products will mainly be sold in the extrusion and rolled products sectors, which could help to fulfill the growing global demand for low-carbon aluminum. Around a quarter of production will be sold into the Russian market.
