United Company RUSAL (RUSAL), the second-largest aluminum producer in the world, reported that it achieved a profit of around US$4.02 billion in the first half of this year, sliding by 15.2% compared to the same period a year ago. It had a loss of US$124 million during the period, compared to a net profit of US$625 million in the same period a year earlier.

RUSAL’s revenue from primary aluminum and alloy sales fell by 14.4% year on year to roughly US$3.32 billion, due to a decrease in aluminum prices and sales volume. The revenue from alumina sales slid by 28.8% year on year to US$240 million, due to a drop in average selling prices and sales volume.
