Aluminum company Alcoa planned to start job cuts at its Kwinana alumina refinery in Western Australia due to oversupply in the global aluminum market.

The company prepared US$6 million to pay employee severance costs through the first quarter of 2024.

The Kwinana refinery is the first of Alcoa's three alumina refineries in Western Australia. It has been operating for around 60 years and has an annual production capacity of 2.2 million tons.
