It was reported that Rio Tinto recently signed a US$18 million contract with Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (SCEE) for the construction of the alumina smelter on the Gove Peninsula in Northern Australia.
The smelter has supplied bauxite worldwide for more than 40 years, while it will stop operations in 2030.
