Rio Tinto announced on Monday (September 23rd) that it was currently providing independently certified and responsible aluminum products from all of its Canadian operations and expanding ASI's trusteeship certification chain to BC Works smelter and Kemano Power Operations.

This certification reinforced Rio Tinto's commitment to responsible mining and metal production and provided an independent certification that materials can be tracked through a managed chain.

ASI certification aims to assure customers that aluminum products purchased through Rio Tinto’s Canadian operations meet the highest environmental, social and governance standards.

As a founding member of ASI, Rio Tinto has worked with customers and a wide range of stakeholders to establish responsible production certification for the aluminum industry.
