CANPACK, a Poland-based packaging manufacturer, planned to invest around BRL 710 million (US$140 million) to build a new aluminum beverage can processing plant in Poços de Caldas, the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, to raise its manufacturing capacity.

The construction of this plant was expected to start in the last quarter of this year, and the operation will be in the first quarter of 2024.

The initial designed annual production capacity is about 1.3 billion cans, mainly meeting demand from Brazilian customers.

The new facility will create around 140 direct jobs to the Poços de Caldas region.

According to Abralatas, the Brazilian association of aluminum can manufacturers, Brazil has the third-largest aluminum beverage can market. The sales of beverage cans in 2021 reached 33.4 billion cans, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%.
