According to statistics, the output of primary aluminum in North America grew by 1.2% month on month to around 350,000 tons in August, up by 4.8% from the same month a year ago.
During the reporting period, the US’ primary aluminum output continued declining due to a production cut at Alcoa's Intalco smelter, while the output in Canada kept rising, driven by the production resumption.
The latest data from the US’ Aluminum Association showed that the US’ primary aluminum output totaled around 81,300 tons in August, sliding by 2.3% month on month and 13.6% year on year. The output in the first eight months of this year amounted to approximately 723,000 tons, dropping by 4.5% from the same period a year earlier.
