The Aluminum Association announced the order report and showed that in January 2018, North American aluminum rolled products orders increased by 21.2% over the previous month and up by 6.9% from the same period of last year. Hot-rolled aluminum orders increased by 21.4% over the previous month, an increase of 8% over the same period of last year. Non-hot-rolled aluminum orders increased by 19.8% over the previous month, an increase of 3.1% over the same period of last year.
January's aluminum extrusion products orders increased by 43.5% from the previous month, an increase of 8.3% over the same period a year earlier. Aluminum foil orders rose by 20.9% month on month, an increase of 12.5% over the same period a year ago.
The report of order from Aluminum Association came from 23 companies, covering about 80% to 85% of the shipments in the United States and Canada.
