Norsk Hydro said on Tuesday that it would take months for its aluminum plant at Karmoey in Norway to return to full capacity after power outages cut output by about 10%.

On Monday, Norsk Hydro shut 45 of the 288 aluminum blocks on its main production line to help stabilize the remaining units, equivalent to 27,000 tons of annual capacity.

Øyvind Breivik, a spokesman of the company, said it would take months for full operations to resume, although it was too early to say when.

The plant continued to work on Tuesday to stabilize production at the remaining production lines after the power outage. The outage did not affect another production line with an annual capacity of 75,000 tons, he added.
