Norsk Hydro, the Norwegian metals producer, said on Thursday that it expected global primary aluminum demand growth to slow to 2-3% in 2019, compared with an estimated 4% growth in 2018.

The company said trade sanctions and tariffs were affecting the global aluminium trade and adding to uncertainty about economic growth. It still had no firm timetable for fully resuming operations at Brazil's alumina plant, which has shut down half of its capacity due to an untreated water spills in February.

The company planned to set up a common platform with the authorities and the court system to work with the most advanced technology in this line of work, according to Norsk Hydro.
