It was reported that Norsk Hydro ASA, a Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company, submitted a joint petition to a Brazilian court, asking to cancel the embargo on the new bauxite residue deposit area (DRS2).

Hydro's alumina refinery Alumina do Norte do Brasil S.A. (Alunorte) and Brazilian Ministério Público Federal (MPF) filed the petition to the Federal Court in Belem, with an aim to allow Alunorte to resume the installation and commission at DRS2, which was suspended in March last year due to order from the court.
