Mexico was following the US' protection policy on aluminum and steel and it will start an anti-dumping policy to protect local market.
The investigation on imports of aluminum foil from China was pushed by Mexican firm Almexa Aluminio. The Aluminum Association, a US' industry group also supported the Mexican government’s decision on this anti-dumping policy towards Chinese imports.
Mexico was trying to fight against unfair trade practices and enforce fair global trade rules together with the US.
