According to the statistics from Mexican Aluminum Institute (IMEDAL), since the implementation of anti-dumping duties on Chinese exports of aluminum products by 200% in 2017, the Mexican one became its alternative.

In fact, until 2017 more than the half of the inner consumption of aluminum products in the US came from China. From the moment, when the US government executed anti-dumping duties of 200% on Chinese imports of aluminum, the Mexican one skyrocketed on its sales.

During 2017, the Mexican manufacturers of aluminum only exported around 12 million dollars of aluminum sheets and strips, but in 2018 this number hiked to 24 million dollars roughly.
