Sarawak, the largest state in Malaysia, planned to impose a 1% sales tax on exported aluminum from Sarawak, from January 1st, 2020.
Abang Johari Openg, Sarawak’s Chief Minister, said this would bring in an expected income of MYR 58 million.
Abang Johari Openg also mentioned that the new tax policy might also influence the electricity and water supply next year.
