According to the official sources, the Malaysian government has announced an extension of the bauxite mining ban in order to reduce inventory. It was expected that there were still 10 million tons of bauxite to be sold.
The Malaysian mining ban was implemented from January 2016. Before the implementation of the policy, many unlicensed miners mined large amounts of ore, leading to the serious pollution for water resources in Pahang.
The Malaysian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment said that the mining ban would be extended to June 30th, 2018.
