It was reported that the news of Jiuquan Iron & Steel (Group) Co. Ltd. (JISCO) to start its second phase of the modernization expansion project at the Alpart plant in Nain, St. Elizabeth was confirmed by the Ministry of Transport and Mining of Jamaica. The project will be launched in the coming 30 to 60 days, which might suspend the alumina production or layoffs.
It was expected that the modernization project will boost the plant’s annual production capacity by 350,000 tons, reaching 2 million tons per year, further raising the production efficiency.
