According to report, Japan’s aluminum premium for July to September would set to US$132/ton, rising by 2% from previous quarter. It was because the rising spot premiums in the US as well as supply concerns from sanctions on Rusal. Those brought the price to go up.

It will also be the highest rise of aluminum premium in Japan in 3 years, as it was the third straight quarter for the rise.

Japan was also the biggest buyer of aluminum and they agreed to pay each quarter for primary metal over LME cash price for setting the benchmark price for the country.
