According to the statistics from the Japan Aluminum Association (JAA), Japanese production and sales of aluminum processing materials both increased in 2017, with a total production of around 2.19 million tons of sheet, extrusion, foil and other products, up by 2.6% from the same period of the previous year, and the total sales were around 2.18 million tons, up by 1.7% from the same period a year ago.
The sales of Japanese construction extrusion materials had a year-on-year increase of 0.7% with around 464,000 tons due to the city's development driven by Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. The demand increased for two consecutive years; however, the engineering projects were stagnant after the winter of 2017 and it also slowed the demand.
