According to the Minister of Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Kamina Johnson Smith, Jamaican bauxite exports have not been affected by any impact despite the impact of the US tariff on steel and aluminum has gradually increased.

Bauxite exports to the US currently accounted for more than 75% of Jamaican production, but Jamaican bauxite exports have a tariff exemption under the Caribbean Basin Initiative. However, it was unclear whether the US tariff will affect alumina exports.
