Noble Group said that its 55%-owned Jamaican alumina refinery Jamalco’s powerhouse was extensively damaged by a major fire and closed in August.
It was expected that this alumina refinery will not resume its production until the end of September 2022.
Jamalco has an annual production capacity of 1.4 million tons of alumina. Noble Group said that Jamalco has given notice of force majeure to its suppliers and customers.
