The Japan Aluminum Association (JAA) said on March 29th that the US’ import tariffs on steel and aluminum imports went against the international rules and would cause the serious problems. The JAA appealed to the US to waive the import tariffs on Japanese aluminum.
The president of the JAA said at the press conference that they were also concerned about the aluminum products rejected by the US might flow into the Asian market, so they would ask the Japanese government to continue fighting for the exemption from the US’ import tariffs.
Meanwhile, the aluminum manufacturers in Japan would also seek the exemptions from the new tariffs.
