According to the news, the PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero), one of the state-based aluminum companies, might stop to import alumina from 2022, because of the completion of the smelter of alumina.
Currently, Persero needed to import around 500,000 tons of alumina annually, to produce around 250,000 tons of aluminum.
As the new alumina smelter was expected to produce around 1 million tons annually, it would be no need for them to import more alumina from the other countries, but even started to export.
Indonesia's Persero may stop to import alumina from 2022
