Indonesian state miner MIND ID said that the Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) project is scheduled for trial operation in September. This refinery is MIND ID’s strategic project to develop infrastructure and increase the value of mineral commodities in Indonesia.
MIND ID is working on ensuring the project is run in line with the scheduled standards and timelines, said an insider, adding that the project’s development still has room for further optimization and acceleration.
The project is planned to start its commercial operation by February 2025, and bauxite processing will begin in the fourth quarter of this year. After it is fully operational, the plant is expected to produce one million tons of alumina per year, with an expected annual bauxite use of 3.3 million tons.
