Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced on Wednesday (December 21) that Indonesia, one of the largest bauxite producers in the world, will ban bauxite exports from June 2023 as scheduled. The move was to improve the domestic processing and refining industry of bauxite.
The timing of this export ban was in line with the current mining law.
The president said the measure was expected to increase the state revenue from 21 trillion rupiahs to 62 trillion rupiahs.
Widodo predicted that Indonesia will introduce more export bans in future years to develop the domestic resource processing industry.
