The Indonesian Working Group on Land Use and Investment Arrangements has officially resumed mining business permits (IUPs) that have been revoked by the government since February 2022.

The restored 80 IUPs covered several mining types, including nickel, bauxite, coal, gold, tin, and other minerals. However, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia didn’t disclose specific names of the 80 mining companies with recovered permits.

Since February 2022, the Working Group had withdrawn 2,065 IUPs, accounting for 98.4% of the total planned IUPs. The area of the withdrawn mining land totaled 3.17 million hectares, covering a variety of mining types.
