National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) aimed to double its production within the next seven years and become one of the world leaders in alumina production, said Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, Chairman and Managing Director of NALCO.
Mr. Chand said the company aimed to have a production capacity of 1.1 billion tons by 2026. The current capacity is 4.6 million tons.
Chand said that despite the economic challenges, NALCO was continuing to keep strong momentum with the efforts of the whole group. This was why the company can establish itself in the international market.
According to a report by Wood Mackenzie, a research consultancy, NALCO became the world's lowest-cost producer of bauxite in 2018. The firm's export earnings accounted for 43% of total sales.
