The Aluminium Association of India (AAI) has written to the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking the government's intervention and support for the domestic aluminum manufacturing industry by reducing basic custom duty and anticipating supportive measures realized in the upcoming Union Budget 2022-23.
The association said that the sustainability of India's aluminum industry has been being affected by high energy costs, expensive logistics expenses, the weight of taxes, as well as the inverted duty structures on raw materials.
