On May 23, 2022, India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that the Ministry of Finance has decided not to accept the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR)’s recommendations to impose a countervailing duty (CVD) on imports of aluminum primary foundry alloy ingot in different forms from Malaysia, so there will be no CVD measures to be implemented on the subject goods from Malaysia.

The initial CVD investigation was launched on December 24, 2020, based on a joint application submitted by Indian companies Vedanta Limited and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited.

On January 31, 2022, a definitive final determination was made, and it was recommended to impose a CVD with rates ranging from 5.53% to 13.27% based on CIF value, valid for five years.

The products involved are under HS code 76012010.
