According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), the global primary aluminum production amounted to 5.805 million tons in May this year, growing by 3.64% compared to the previous month and slightly rising by 0.43% from the same month a year earlier.
In the first five months of this year, the global primary aluminum production totaled 27.97 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.69%.
In May, China, the largest aluminum producer and consumer in the world, produced 3.4 million tons of primary aluminum, up by 3.9% month on month. The output in the five-month period was 16.3 million tons, a year-on-year decline of 0.52%.
