According to the monthly statistics from the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global primary aluminum production totaled around 5.16 million tons in September, dropping by 3.1% compared to the previous month, also falling by 2.6% from the same month a year ago.
In the first 9 months of this year, global primary aluminum production had a year-on-year decrease of 1% to 47.6 million tons roughly. The decline was due to a drop in the output from China, which accounted for 56.3% of global primary aluminum output, with the amount sliding by 1.4% year on year to around 26.8 million tons.
