According to Hydro, a Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company, the company will build a new solar park with a photovoltaic power system at its extrusion plant in Trzcianka, Poland with a total investment of EUR 5 million.
This solar park will be put into operation in the third quarter of 2022. It will generate 7.5GWh of electricity every year to power the new extrusion press which is currently under construction.
Amid the rising electricity prices in Europe, this investment will provide clean renewable power to the plant. The photovoltaic power system will reduce the carbon footprint of the new press’ production process from an average of 0.68 kg of carbon dioxide per kg of aluminum to an estimated 0.14 kg of carbon dioxide.
