Norwegian aluminum producer Hydro has started the work on equipping its extrusion plants in Vetlanda, Sjunnen, and Finspång in Sweden with solar panels and battery storage.
It was scheduled to complete the installation of rooftop solar panels and battery energy storage systems in the fourth quarter of 2023, and the installation of ground-mounted solar panels was expected to be completed in 2024.
Hydro initiated the Greener Sweden project in 2022, which will be implemented in stages, with an aim to use 100% locally produced renewable energy in extrusion plants in Vetlanda, Sjunnen, and Finspång and reduce CO2 emissions from the plants to zero.
