Hindalco Industries Limited, an Indian aluminum manufacturer, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with state-owned Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) for long-term supply of bauxite ore for its proposed two-million-ton alumina refinery and 150-MW captive power plant at Kanshariguda in Rayagada.
This proposed facility will be Hindalco’s second alumina refinery in the Rayagada district of Odisha.
The total investment of this project is approximately Rs. 8,000 crores, and it will be carried out in two phases. The capacity of the first phase will be 1 million tons, expected to be put into operation in 2026-27 with an investment of Rs. 5,500 crores.
