On January 9th, the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) approved a proposal to build a new alumina refinery at Kansariguda near Rayagada in Odisha from Hindalco Industries Ltd., a leading aluminum and copper company in India.
The annual production capacity of the new alumina refinery was 2 million tons, and the total investment will reach Rs 8,000 crore.
