It was reported that Guinean state-owned mining firm Soguipami will be directly managed by the president handed over by the Guinean Ministry of Mines in order to enhance the state control on major resources such as bauxite.

Soguipami holds a 49% stake in Compagnie des bauxites de Guinée (CBG) and a 10% stake in Société Minière de Boké. Also, Soguipami holds a 15% stake in AngloGold Ashanti Limited's Siguiri mine.

Guinea has replaced Australia and become the largest importer of bauxite for China.
