According to statistics, in the first nine months of this year, China’s alumina output totaled 58.84 million tons, hiking by 7.6% compared to the same period a year ago. The output of primary aluminum was 29.15 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%; that of aluminum products was up by 10.7% year on year to 44.78 million tons.
The current aluminum prices in both domestic and foreign markets are fluctuating at high levels. The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association pointed out that the increase in aluminum prices was due to global loose monetary policy pushing up prices of bulk commodities including aluminum, higher energy prices such as oil and natural gas raising aluminum production costs, and different progress of epidemic prevention and control measures in various regions of the world, causing dissimilar supply and demand, which drove aluminum prices.
In addition, the association also said that the development of the aluminum industry will be positive in the long term with the expansion of application fields.
